The Chicago Griffins boosted their standings in league play Saturday, defeating the Cincinnati Wolfhounds 36-19 in a match at Red Lobster Stadium and face another Eastern Conference clash this weekend.The win boosted the Griffins’ record to 2-1-1 in Midwest Premiership League play, keeping them in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Detroit Tradesmen.
“We had a better performance against CIncinnati,” said Griffin Head Coach Drew Suniula. “ We need to back it up in our match against a strong Pittsburgh team this weekend.”
The Griffins will host the Pittsburgh Forge RFC this Saturday, Sept 27, at renowned Red Lobster Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The CRC Westside Condors lost to the Southside Irish, 40-24 in a D2 match. The CRC Silverbacks received a forfeit win over the Peoria Pigs in D3 competition.
The Forge is experiencing a difficult season and remains winless in league competition. The team tied the Griffins in the season opener in Pittsburgh Aug. 23 but have not been able to score a win. The Tradesmen beat them badly last Saturday 80-0 in Detroit.
The Griffins are fighting to maintain their Midwest championship and a trip to the national playoffs next year. Join the sideline cheering squad Saturday to help the club continue its winning ways.
