The Chicago Griffins pulled off a victory in CIncinnati Aug. 29 by scoring a last minute try and conversion to beat the Wolfhounds, 45-43.
“It was a great comeback win,” said Griffins head coach Drew Suniula. “I am really proud of how deep the boys dug to scrape out a win and most importantly the five points for our standings in the Premiership League.”
Drew said the team gave up 21 points in the first 10 minutes but then settled down.
“We stuck to our processes and simplified game plan,” Drew said. “We were banking on the bench to bring us home and it came down to the last possession. Mason Campbell made the conversion kick to ice the game.”
Campbell is a new fullback from the UK and made his debut Sept. 22. Also in the scoring tally was prop Anthony “A-Train” Johnson who touched down a try.
The Griffins have a bye this Saturday, Sept. 5, before hitting the road again to take on the Indianapolis Impalas Sept. 12.
