The Griffins first fundraiser was a roaring success last Saturday in a very crowded Black Rock. Congratulations go to Charlie Jacobson, who won the raffle grand prize at the end of the evening. Thanks to all who came to the Black Rock to support the bar and team as well as bought tickets. The next event is this coming Sunday with the Super Bowl Bash - see belwo for more info.

Super Bowl Bash This Sunday

What: The two biggest names in Chicago rugby will be co-hosting a fabulous Super Bowl party at none other than Black Rock Pub Kitchen.

When: Sunday, Feb 5 @ 4.30pm and going through half time.

Cost: For the very reasonable price of $30 you get:
-- A delicious buffet of tailgating type foods
-- Open bar including Bud Light, Goose Island, and well drinks
-- $10 from each package bought goes to North Shore and the Griffins
-- Package starts @ 4:30pm and goes through half time - thats over 3 hours of food and booze!

Winter Indoor Training In Progress

Winter Training is in progress- the location and dates are as follows for January and February:

Tuesday nights - 7-9 pm at the Rowe-Clark Exelon Gymnasium - located at 3645 W.Chicago Ave. in Chicago. The School building is on the South side of Chicago Ave between Monticello & Lawndale. There are two parking lots (North & South) of the Gymnasium which is located directly behind the main school building. It is advised to park in the lot to the North, this is a gated lot and should provide more security. If this is full or the gate closed, there is parking behind the gym. For a map, click here.

Thursday nights - 8-10 pm - at Frozen Ropes, located at 6000 W. Touhy Ave. in Chicago - for a map, click here. Trainings after that date for January and February will be as follows:

2011 Griffins Officers

The Griffins' Annual General Meeting was held on January 9th. After 9 years of service, Ed Michals has stepped down as President, and elections were held for his post and other offices.

Spring Schedule 2012

The Spring 2012 Super League schedule is now up. The Spring CARFU Cup schedule is up but is continually being updated as we speak.

1st Annual Rugby Night in America at the Black Rock

Griffins' sponsor, the Black Rock Pub, was one of 19 bars across the US (and the ONLY bar in Chicago) that participated in the 1st Annual "Rugby Night in America", with the showing of the Eagles vs. Italy match on Tuesday night (Sep. 27th). Players and Old Boys showed up for the event, and a good time was had by all. In addition, the Black Rock (as well as the other bars that participated), has donated 10% of the profits to the US Rugby Football Foundation, for their A Ball 4 All campaign.

A big thanks goes out to the Black Rock for their generosity for this cause, and also a big thanks to everyone who came out to support the event!
